MELISSA, SHEREE, ROSS SPEAK

WHERE IS THE LITTLE BOY, I CARRIED?

WHERE ARE MY LITTLE GIRLS AT PLAY?

I DON'T REMEMBER GROWING OLDER....

WHEN DID THEY???

WHEN DID THEY GET TO BE SUCH BEAUTIES?

WHEN DID HE GROW TO BE SO TALL?

WASN'T IT YESTERDAY THAT THEY WERE SMALL???

SHEREE, MELISSA, ROSS       SHEREE, MELISSA, ROSS

I remember that first picture very well. Sheree had cracked  her front tooth riding her bicycle and had a silver cap on it. The sweater that Sheree wore was scratching her neck.

They were not dressed well for a picture but I stopped anyway.

Ross was not a happy camper.

Melissa was the only happy one that day.

Even Santa looked stressed!!!!!

The photographer didn't want to take this picture but I insisted. I am so glad that I did.

A few years ago...They gave me the 2nd picture to place beside the first one.

I treasure these pictures.

I love all three of you and.....

WHY DID YOU GROW UP SO FAST???

Cameron Speaks

Cameron (6)called last evening.

He was talking so fast that I couldn't understand him.

I finally understood the word, visitor.

Sheree took the phone and explained that the school was having visitor's day next Wednesday.

Cameron called to invite me to have lunch with him at school.

What fun!

I am glad that I only live an hour away and that I can be apart of his life.

School lunches usually stink but the company will be magnificent!

See you next Wednesday for lunch, Cameron!

MICHAEL SPEAKS

I talked with Melissa today. She said that Michael went to sleep in their bed, next to his Dad.

She let him sleep there all night.

This morning when Michael came into the room...He announced...

Mommy, I had the best sleep that I have had since Bama left!

While I was there, I rubbed Michaels head every night until he fell asleep.

He also said; I even had good night stories (dreams) about our family.

I think that he will adjust to the new place,  just fine.

MICHAEL SPEAKS

I enjoyed my visit with my daughter, son-in-law and 2 Grandchildren.

Michael (8), has been stressed over the move to a new city and state and misses his old friends so much.

Who say's that childhood is carefree???

He is feeling lonely and is having trouble making friends. He has never lived anywhere but Richmond and this new place and people are foreign to him.

One evening, he was looking especially stressed. I asked him to come and sit by me on the couch. He snuggled next to me and held my hand so tight.

I asked him if he would like to lay his head in my lap so that I could rub his head and make all his troubles and worries go away.

It took him about 1/4 of a second and he was lying in my lap.

I rubbed his head and his eyebrows and would trail my fingers down his arm to his fingers. I told him that with each stroke of my hand all his troubles and worries were going away and would go out of his fingers.

He fell asleep almost immediately with a smile on his face.

The next night he came to me while I was sitting on the couch and said;

Bama, remember last night when you made all of my troubles and worries go away?

I said, yes, I do, Michael.

He said; Well, Bama, I think that I am going to need it again Tonight !!!!

While I rubbed his head, he looked up at me and said; Bama, How will I make all my troubles go away after you leave?

I told him that every night when he went to bed that he could rub his eyebrows and forehead 3 times and it would be me making all of his troubles go away.

He seemed satisifed with the answer.

I hope he will always remember when his Bama made all of his troubles and worries go away.

I wish that it could always be this simple for him.

Maybe, one day when he is a 20, 30 or 40 something...He will rub his head and eyebrows at night and feel his Bama making all of his troubles and worries.......... melting  away and going out of his finger tips!

MELISSA SPEAKS

When our daughter, Melissa was 7 years old she came to me with two questions.....

Mommie, when will I get Boobs and Mommie, when can I get braces on my teeth?

I told her that she would start to get breasts when she was about 13 years old. She counted on her fingers and stated, Well...that is 6 years away!!! I'll be old by then....

First question answered! Whew.

Then I tackled the braces issue.

I told her that she did not need braces on her teeth and asked her why she wanted them.

Her reply was...

Because they Shine when you smile!

CAMERON SPEAKS

Sheree called yesterday to tell me about Cameron's vote at school.

His class voted for president of the United States.

He was proud of this opportunity and Sheree asked him who he voted for....( we are Democrats).

He announced that he had two choices.

One was George W. Bush and the other man was John Kerry.

She asked...who did you pick as your president, Cam?

He replied...I voted for George W. Bush.

You did, she said.

Why did you vote for Mr. Bush, Cameron?

He answered...Well, George W. Bush has a W. in his name and my friend James has a W. in his name.

That's why!

CALEB SPEAKS

Caleb is 3 1/2 years old. He is very proud of the fact that he goes to nursery school.

If anyone in the family calls him a baby, his reply is that he is a big school boy.

His Mom was sitting on the couch yesterday with her knees pulled to her chest and her arms wrapped around her knees.

Caleb didn't like this closed posture and kept try to pull her arms away so that he could get on her lap.

Finally, he got up on the couch and wiggled into his mom's lap.

His mom said, Caleb, are you a baby bird in my nest?

 NO,  He Said,

I''m a Big School Boy Bird in your nest!

BROWNIE SCOUTS

Our daughter loved being a Brownie.

Every Tuesday, I would dress her in the complete brownie scout uniform and send her off to school.

Tuesday afternoon was the Brownie meeting and she couldn't wait to go.

One Tuesday, I sent her to meet her school bus decked out in her Brownie outfit.

When the bus arrived at the house that afternoon, there she was.

I said; Honey, today was your Brownie meeting. Why didn't you go?

She looked up at me with her big blue eyes, dressed from head to toe in Brown and said....

JOHN ROSS DESCRIBES PAIN

My son had just turned 6 years old when he rushed past me while I was working in the kitchen one day.

Hey Ross, I yelled. Where are you going in such a hurry?

I gotta get my blanket..was his reply.

He returned to the kitchen with what was left of his blanket wrapped around his head.

I sat down and held him in my lap and asked him what was wrong.

He said; I don't know Mama but I think there are great big rocks in my head. They all got loose and are banging around in there! They bang from one inside of my head, bounce off and hit the other inside.

Make it stop!!!!!!!

I gave him some baby asprin and soon he was fine and playing with his cars on the floor. I watched him as he played and thought........

I am glad that he felt better but I  missed him in my lap and needing me!

Dead...Dead...Dead

When Jordan was 6, her Dad took her to her first funeral. It was for his Great Aunt. He thought it would be a good learning experience for her and afterwards, they could talk about it.

He took her to the casket and let her touch his Great Aunt's face.

Later, I was talking to Jordan and I asked her about the experience.

BAMA....Jordan, what did you think about the funeral?

JORDAN... Well Bama, it was sad. We sang long, sad songs. I got to touch her and she was hard!

BAMA...She was???

JORDAN...Yep...Hard as a rock!

BAMA...How did she look to you?

JORDAN...Well, Bama, She looked DEAD>>>DEAD>>>DEAD!!!!!!!

SOCKS

I am in the process of embellishing socks for Lauren.

I have used beads, bows, flowers and ribbons.

They have turned out so cute and the socks that I have already sent to her were a huge success.

Lauren ( 6 ) is our Girley-Girl. She loves bows in her hair and pretty clothes.

Heaven help her parents when she is a teenager and wants all the up to date clothes and shoes.

I don't mind the hours it takes to embellish the socks for her because she truely appreciates them and tells me so.

Jordan (10) our other Grand daughter, saw the socks one day while she was here. I used to make them for her when she was Lauren's age.

She picked up a pair to look at them and when I saw that, I asked her if she like for me to make some for her again.

Her answer was so sweet.

Well Bama, none of the girls at my school wear these anymore but...

If you made me a pair...I would wear them!

She didn't want to hurt my feelings. This 10 year old girl would have worn the little girl socks to school just to please her Bama.

Now, that's love!

GRANDMOTHER AWARD FROM MICHAEL & LAUREN

I just know that I will receive a grandmother award from Michael and Lauren soon!

They were the only children with NO Grandparents at Grandparents day at their school.

I talked to each of them on the phone during the festivities and they sounded so disappointed.

Lauren said;  Bama....I thought you would come........

I felt about an inch high ...if that high!

I explained that we lived 10 hours away now but little people whose hearts are hurting do not know distance.

They only knew that Bama & Papa did not come to Grandparents Day.

They only knew that other children's Grandparents were there.

3 Cheers for us! We feel bad...

I hope they are happy because they reduced their Bama to tears!

Next year!  I'll plan on being there!

CAMERON

Cameron age 5

My daughter and her husband have set up a token systen with their children. The school that Cameron attends also has a "token" for accomplishment system".

If he preforms a task..he recieves a token as a reward and it is a big deal to get a token!

The other day, Cam asked his Mom a question.

Mom, he said...

Do you get a token for taking care of me?

Mom replied....

No, Cam, I take care of you because I love you. I do not get tokens for taking care of you.

Cam broke into a big smile...he seemed relieved.

He thought that his Mom took care of him to get good conduct tokens...

Now, he knows that his Mom takes care of him...

Just because she loves him.

OTHER PEOPLE'S GRANDCHILDREN

I was in a store the other day. A mother and her son were walking down the isle. A little boy about 5 or 6 was chatting away as he followed his Mother.

He had a new action figure in his hands and was telling his Mom all about it.

As he talked past me, I had to laugh when I heard him say...

You know, Mom, I can be a hero too and save the world.

His Mom said; Do you think that you can save the Whole world?

Well, the little boy said; Maybe not the big world where you live but I can save the Little World.... Where I Live!

MY SWEET LAUREN

Lauren (6) called last night.

She had an assignment for school and wanted to interview her Papa and me.

She asked our first names, our favorite food, our favorite book and other questions. It was fun to hear her small voice try to sound so grown up.

This assignment was for Grandparents Day at her school.

I wish that we could be there but they live too far away.

She has asked an older couple who live down the street, to go in our places as her Grand friends.

I think that is very nice.

I miss Lauren and her bubbly personality. I miss having the family close but they are very happy and that is what really matters.

CHRISTOPHER

Christopher is getting his room at home re-decorated.

He  has chosen a Nautical theme.

I have our home decorated in a Nautical theme for the summer and have many boats, light houses and other nautical items all over the house.

Christopher was over last week and told me about his room as he was eyeing all of my Nautical stuff.

He picked up a boat and said, Bama this would look really good in my room. It is an expensive boat and I told him we would have to find something else. He looked and looked and found a big lighthouse that I have on a table. It too is very expensive.

He picked it up, looked at me and said.

Now Bama, This would really complete my room!

I said Christopher, we'll just have to keep looking!!!!

I gave him several things that he could take and use in his room.

It was hard...not to give in and see my boat and lighthouse leave!

THE SLUMBER PARTY

Jordan...9 years old

.

NEWS FLASH....

JORDAN HAD HER FIRST SLUMBER PARTY LAST FRIDAY NIGHT. FIVE GIRLS INVITED....

Jordan came to the house on Thursday to tell me all about it.

She was so excited and had several requests.

Bama...Can I take the Mudd Mask stuff that you used on my face when I spent the night with you?

Bama, Do you have any pretty finger nail polish that I could take? We will probably want to paint our  finger nails and toe nails.

Do you have any pretty hair clips and stuff?

My first grand daughter is growing up fast.

We started our Slumber Party Stuff Hunt!

She went through my fingernail basket and took anything that sparkled, was bright and wanted the RED polish most of all!!!

We found everything that she needed for a party night.

Her Mom said the party was a success and that they stayed up all NIGHT! Ha ( I remember those day's).

She also said that she should have supervised the mudd mask hour a little closer. The girls got the mudd on everything but their faces!

All in All the party was a fun event in Jordan's life and she will remember it for a long time.

I Love You, Jordan!

FIRST DAY IN NEW SCHOOL

MICHAEL AND LAUREN AT DISNEY WORLD.

Melissa and the children arrived safely in Missouri on Tuesday.

The children started to school on Wednesday.

Michael told me last Sunday that he was scared to go to school.

Melissa said that she took Lauren to her 1st grade room. Lauren had a death grip on her arm. The teacher was kind and introduced Lauren to the class and took her to her seat. Melissa asked her if she wanted her to stay for a while. Lauren waved her Goodbye with a huge smile.  All will be well there.

Melissa took Michael to his 2nd grade room. Melissa asked him if he wanted her to stay for a while and he said... He looked up at her and said,You can if you want too! This was the boy who was so scared on Sunday and still was, I think but he would Never let the other children know that he had a care in the world!!! A Little Manly Man.

They love their new house and there are alot of children their ages in the community.

They will all be just fine but my heart is still a little cracked. It will also heal...with time.

I miss them so...

LAST SWIM

The "cousins" as they call themselves had the last swim together for a while yesterday afternoon.

Melissa, Mike, Michael and Lauren are moving 10 hours away today!

Yesterday was a bitter sweet day for all of us.

The children had a good time swimming and playing together and will not see one another until Christmas.

Before they left, Michael, Lauren and I went to the pond to feed the fish. Michael made me tear up with this request.

Bama, can I find some rocks from your yard to take to the new house with me?

Sure, I said and the three of us, armed with baggies set out on our rock find quest. They each found a baggie full of colorful pebbles.

Now, Michael said, I will put these rocks in a glass and have a little of your yard in my room.

I teared up and said, Yes you will and every time you look at them they will tell you how much Papa John and I love you!

He looked up at me and smiled and hugged me hard.

I will miss Michael and Lauren, Melissa and Mike so much!

THE PARTING OF THE COUSINS

The cousins...as they call one other, have been a group since birth. They have always done things together.

Michael and Lauren will be moving 10 hours away in a few weeks.

It will be difficult for "the cousins" to adjust. They have cried about the breaking up of the group. I have cried about the breaking up of the group!

A part of growing up is learning to adjust to situations beyond our control.

This parting of "the cousins" will be a hard, useful lesson for all of us.

We will miss you.... Melissa, Mike, Michael and Lauren!

My Love goes with all of you to Missouri!

THE MOVE... FROM MICHAEL'S POINT OF VIEW

I talked with Michael on Sunday about their move to Missouri in the middle of August.

They will be 10 hours away from us instead of 1 hour.

I asked Michael if he was excited about the move and his big, new house.

He said he was but then said;

Bama, it's gonna be hard on me.

I asked why and he said, I won't know anybody and they might not like me in school.

So much for the thought that children do not have any worries!

I Love You, Michael and believe it or not...It will be O K in time.

I will miss you so much!

LAUREN'S BIRTHDAY GROWTH SPIRT

Michael ( Lauren's older brother) told her that on the night of her birthday...she would grow.

So, before she went to bed she put on extra large pajamas and measured herself against her Mom's stomach.

She woke her Mom up on her birthday morning and very excited shouted...I GROWED, I GROWED, JUST OVER THE NIGHT!      I GROWED UP!

To make the point to her Mom she put her hand on her head and measured up to Melissa's chest and exclaimed....

SEE...I GROWED RIGHT UP TO YOUR PRIVATES!

Melissa asked her how old she was now and she put her shoulders back and stood a little prouder when she said;

I AM 6 TODAY BUT TOMORROW...I WILL BE 6 AND 1/2!

You gotta love the way a child's mind thinks!

Happy Birthday, Lauren!

CAMERON, MY GRANDSON, WAS DIAGNOSED WITH JUVENILE DIABETES WHEN HE WAS 3.

JOHN, CAM'S GRANDPAPA WAS THERE AND SAT IN THE FRONT ROW.

SHERI WENT ON STAGE WITH CAM AND HANDED HIM THE T-SHIRTS AND HE STARTED THROWING THEM TO OUT STRETCHED ARMS.

SHERI SAID THAT HE HAD A BALL AND WAS A LITTLE HAM.

SHERI HANDED HIM THE LAST T-SHIRT AND CAM LOOKED AT HER WITH HUGE BLUE EYES AND SAID...

MOM, IS THIS THE LAST ONE???

SHERI SAID; YES.

CAM TOOK THE SHIRT AND RAN OFF OF THE STAGE TO WHERE PAPA JOHN WAS SITTING.

HE THREW HIM THE T-SHIRT AND CLIMBED INTO HIS LAP,  HUGGED HIM TIGHT AND SAID...

I LOVE YOU, PAPA!

SHERI SAID THAT THERE WAS NOT A DRY EYE IN THE PLACE.

THE PEOPLE LAUGHED, CLAPPED AND CRIED!

FATHERS DAY COOKOUT-SWIM

We had a nice afternoon Father's Day.

We only had a few minor, awful moments.

Michael pushed Lauren under the water causing hysterics.

Caleb (3) fell down and cut his finger. More hysterics as we tried to clean and bandage it.

Jordan almost fell in the pond while naming the new fish. Only a few rocks fell into the water.

Cameron had a drop in blood sugar and got a bit testy. After his shot and something to eat...He was fine.

Christopher made it through the afternoon with blue lips from the cold water and wind.

There was a brew Ha Ha  among the whole gang about who would hold the swimming Koi fish that glides through the water using double A batteries

The hot dogs were good.

The Father's had a good time.

They finally left for home around 6:30 pm. If they hadn't left...

John and I might have gone into hysterics.

A Fun day.... a happy tired.

Fun to see the whole group come and fun to see the whole group leave... until next Sunday afternoon and swim time.

CALEB

Caleb is 3 years old.

He has just found lighting bugs!!!!!

Cameron and Caleb were in the yard and Cameron was catching lighting bugs and putting them in a jar.

Caleb got into the action but was swatting them like his hand was a tennis racket. When they fell to the ground, he would smash them with his feet.

Their Mom, disturbed by this, explained to Caleb that you had to be gentle with the bugs.

He still didn't understand the fine art of catching lighting bugs, putting them in a jar and letting them go! He was into swatting and stomping!

CHRISTOPHER'S QUESTION

The family was driving to a town about 10 miles away.

As they traveled, Christopher's Mom and Dad were talking about getting Jordan a bunny to raise and show at the county  4 H  fair.

Christopher piped up from the back seat and said that he wanted a bunny too.

His Mom told him that he couldn't show a bunny at 4 H because he would have to be in the 4th grade like Jordan to be in 4 H.

Christopher though for a moment and said....

Don't they have a..............3 H ????????

JORDAN CALLED YESTERDAY

Jordan called and left a message on the phone yesterday.

She said; Bama, this is Jordan.

I wanted to call and tell you that I will not be able to come to your house next Sunday afternoon to swim.

I will be at church camp.

I just didn't want you to be dissapointed when Sunday came and I wasn't there.

Bye.

The call was so sweet and it made me smile!

SWIM DAY A SUCCESS

We have a "NO PUSH IN" and "NO RUNNING" rule at our pool.

Watching the children swim and have fun was nice and then....

Michael pushed an unsuspecting Jordan in the pool. I was storming out to Michael ( hearing his Mom say...Go get'em Mom).

I got Michael's attention and with my most serious.. I mean it voice. I said; Michael, if I see you push anyone in the pool again.. You will get out of the pool for the day and have to watch as everyone else swims! Is that clear???

Michael said yes and all of a sudden Christopher, 8 is at my side and giving me the low-down on the incident.

Bama, he said; I saw the whole thing. Michael came up behind Jordan and pushed her in real hard. I was worried...He pushed so hard that I was afraid that Jordan was drownded!

Attention....all people in the pool, I said.

Anymore running OR pushing will End swim day...Understand?

5 wet heads nodded yes and the rest of the afternoon was great!

The only other incident was when Caled, 3 attached his self to the fence vowing to never leave Bama's house! We pried him off and gently put him in the car!

John and I waved goodbye from the front porch as they drove away. We walked in the house and collapsed on the couch!

A nice swim day over and we have a week to recover!!!!!

WHAT IS A GRANDPARENT?

I Had to put this in my journal today!  Mary Louise  aka  Bama
              WHAT IS A GRANDPARENT?
(taken from papers written by a class of 8-year-olds)

Grandparents are a lady and a man who have no little children of her own. They like other people's.

A grandfather is a man grandmother.

Grandparents don't have to do anything except be there when we come to see them. They are so old they shouldn't play hard or run. It is good if they drive us to the store and have lots of quarters for us.

When they take us for walks, they slow down past things like pretty leaves and caterpillars.

They show us and talk to us about the color of the flowers and also Why we shouldn't step on "cracks."

They don't say, "Hurry up."

Usually grandmothers are fat, but not too fat to tie your shoes.

They wear glasses and funny underwear.

They can take their teeth and gums out.

Grandparents don't have to be smart.

They have to answer questions like "why isn't God married?" and "How come dogs chase cats?".

When they read to us, they don't skip. They don't mind if we ask for the same story over again.

Everybody should try to have a grandmother, especially if you don't have television, because they are the only grown ups who like to spend time with us.

They know we should have snack-time before bedtime and they say prayers with us every time, and kiss us even when we've acted bad.

A 6 YEAR OLD WAS ASKED WHERE HIS GRANDMA LIVED. ''OH,'' HE SAID, ''SHE LIVES AT THE AIRPORT, AND WHEN WEWANT HER WE JUST GO GET HER. THEN WHEN WERE DONE HAVING HER VISIT, WE TAKE HER BACK TO THE AIRPORT.''

THE " MAKE A WISH" POND

I made a little pond under the arbor.

I call it the "Make a Wish" pond.

When the grandchildren come over, they bring some money with them.

Then, we go up to the pond and they make a wish and throw the money into the water. The wish is a big decision as you can see by the picture!

In September or after swimming season, I will take all the money out, add some and send it to the Make a Wish Foundation for sick and dying children. The donation will include each of the grandchildrens names.

"Make a Wish" uses all money donated to send critically ill children on the trip of their lifetime.

All of the grandchildren love doing this each time they visit.

They are having fun and helping other children.

LAUREN...MY ALABAMA CHEERLEADER

Lauren is our Girly-Girl grandaughter.

She loves lace and ribbons and anything pretty.

She wore her Bama cheerleader outfit on cookout day and graced us with all of her cheers.

The cheer she is doing in the pictures is......

A..L..A..B..A..M..A..!

I taught her that cheer and bought the outfit.

Jordan wore it  and when she outgrew it ...Lauren became the proud owner!!!

JORDAN AND THE CICADA'S

Jordan (9) is our future veterinarian. She loves anything that crawls, barks or meeows. She saves ants from drowning in our pool.

When she came over yesterday she was carrying a special clear bug box with about 6 or 7 Cicadas that she had captured in her yard.

She loves them and would take them out and let them crawl on her arms and shoulders. YUCCCCKKKK!  She had even named them!

Her Aunt Melissa was talking with her about the Cicadas and asked if she was going to let them go.

Jordan said no. She wanted to watch them.

Melissa reminded her that they had been in the ground for 17 years and when they finally got out.... she had captured them and put them in her bug box.  She asked Jordan how she thought the Cicadas felt about that! How they felt about losing their freedon after 17 years of trying to get free.

Jordan looked at the captured bugs and started for the back yard yelling....... OUT of My Way! Coming Through.

I have Cicadas to SET FREE!!!!!

She carefully took them from their prison and placed them on a tree.

I asked her how she felt about setting her bugs free. She said that she was happy-sad. Happy to set them free again but sad to see them go.

Jordan experienced her first taste of Parenthood!!!

MEMORIAL PICNIC & SWIM A SUCCESS

The children had a great afternoon and so did the adults.

The weather was O K. The water in the pool was a little cool but it didn't stop the children.

Christopher got cold and would sit out... wrapped in a towel.

It was a fun afternoon in May to remember on a snowy day in February!

LAUREN

Lauren loves to dress up.

John and I brought her a grass skirt from our visit to Florida a few weeks ago.

Her Mom said she loves it and wears it all the time.

I knew it was a great hit when I heard this morning that she had taken it to Show and Tell at her school.

Lauren is a girly-girl who loves pretty things just like her Bama.

She is a joy in my life and likes to play dolls when she visits.           I learned about Polly Pockets from Lauren. They are little dolls with plastic clothes that snap on. Alot better than the paper dolls that I used to play with.

I Love You, Lauren! Thank you for bringing energy and laughter to my life.

SOMEONE'S GRANDCHILD...2 STREETS AWAY

My husband and I were walking our big dog yesterday. Doc is a Sammy. He has a beautiful white long coat.

This is shedding time for Doc and the hair just falls off of him as we walk. It looks like snow in our wake as  his hair drifts through the air.

We walked by a house with several children playing in the yard. We heard a little boy's voice yell to us....

Hey Mister...You lost a part of your Dog!!

THE 4 LITTLE COFFMAN'S

Jordan and Christopher ( first two in Picture) just called me on the phone.

Jordan said; Hello Bama. Christopher has something that he wants to tell you.

Christopher...Hi Bama,  Jordan and I were singing the States song and guess what?

What, I said.

Well Bama, did you know that your name  "Bama" comes from the states name of Alabama?

That's the states name ALA...BAMA!!!!!!!

That's  right I said.

I grew up in Alabama. That's where I was a little girl when I was your age.

Christopher...Ok...        Bye, Bama.

It just dawned on him where I got my Grandmother name.

PS.

He didn't give me time to say....Roll Tide.. Go Bama....U of Alabama is the best school for you to go to...

RoLLLL TidEEEEEE RoLLLLL

He was finished with what he wanted to say and said...Bye!

CHRISTOPHER IS 8!

Christopher called us this morning to thank us for his Birthday card and money.

Instead of trying to find something that he would like...We sent him a birthday card with the dollar amount of his birthday.

He loved getting the money and he is happy to have some money to shop for just the right gift. He thinks that he is....RICH!

His cousins Michael and Lauren are going to spend the day and night with him and he is excited. He said that they were going to get a Happy Meal. It is a treat because his Mom and Dad do not let him have a Happy meal very often.

After we talked for a while, I said...Christopher, I Love You......

A confident voice on the other end of the phone said....I KNOW!

I'm glad that Christopher knows that I love him.

MY PRINCESS....JORDAN

Jordan was our first Grandchild.

I have always called my Princess and she loves to hear me say it.

She is starting to think about clothes and shoes.

YEP, she is my princess!

Jordan has been a joy in my life and I love her very much! She visited one day and had a top on with the initial S. I asked her why she was wearing an S instead of a J?

She said that they didn't have any J's so she bought the S and it stands for SWEET!

I love how she thinks!!!

CAMERON

Cameron is 5 years old.

He was diagnosed with Juvenile Diabetes when he was 3 years old.

He is doing great and does his own finger pricks.  I think that he adjusted to his diabetes better than we did.

His Mom and Dad have taken this in stride and do not treat him any different than they do the other 3 children.

Before he was diagnosed, he was difficult and didn't like to be hugged or loved by me. Now, he is the most loving child and I enjoy being around him and I love his hugs and kisses!

JORDAN, IN THE PUMPKIN PATCH

I just love this picture that I took of Jordan.

It was October and we had dressed her in her Halloween princess costume. We took her to the pumpkin patch where there were thousands of pumpkins on the grounds of the farm.

She walked and walked and climbed over pumpkins to find the "Right" one.

I looked the other way and looked back to see a exausted fairy princess sitting on a pumpkin in the middle of the patch!

I took this picture of Jordan and it is a priceless memory of that afternoon in October.

Michael...Bama, can I go in the back yard?

Bama...Yes, but stay away from the pool and birdbath.

Michael...O K, Bama

A little while later... I have been watching him play in the bird bath from the solarium and run to get my camera. He tries to hold the bird bath so he can look into the dirty water. The bird bath spills over on him and he runs for the door. Explaining that the bird bath just jumped all over him! It was very cool out that day!

THE FAMILY VACATION

We take a family vacation every 2 years and this is the year.

I told the girls last week and they are excited and so are their husbands.

John and I decided to take them to the beach on the Gulf Coast. I have rented a great place with a lot of room right on the beach.

We will need room with 8 adults and 7 children.

We went to Colorado to Ski on our last family vacation so the beach seemed like a good choice this year.

The trip is planned for August.

Sheri told her 5 and they are so excited. Jordan, 9 is already packing. She walked in the kitchen the other day and asked Sheri; Mom, which bathing suit should I take? Sheri bought her 3 after season last year and told Jordan that she could take all three.  Jordan said, Yea, I can look good every day.

Melissa has decided to keep the news from her two. She said that they would drive her crazy so she will wait until a week before the trip.

We will make a lot of memories the 2nd week in August and have a lot of fun at the beach!  I will take pictures and share them with all of you!

MEET CHRISTOPHER

Christopher will be 8 years old in May.

He is smart and thoughtful. He loves elephants and always has.

I asked him what he would like for me to write in this journal about him.

He said he would have to get back to me on it. He would have to think some.

Christopher is our thinker! His face lights up a room when he smiles and he has the most beautiful blue eyes! He will be the grandson that will appear in the pages of G.Q one day.

Maybe he will get back to me about what to write, maybe not!  I'll just have to write some stories about his younger days!

I Love You, Christopher!

She looked at me, stuck her 5 year old lip out and shook her head and said she didn't like her Mom as a little Mom.

I asked why and she just said.

LAUREN SPEAKS

Lauren ( 5 ) has become a cleaning person. Melissa told me this morning the she tries to clean everything. The other day she came down the steps and announced to Melissa that they needed to hire someone to clean the house.

That if they hired someone that person could "Maybe" clean Her room and make her bed and also clean up the toy room.

Melissa asked her why because she was doing such a good job cleaning those areas.

Lauren said...

Well then Mommy, I would have a lot more time to spend with You and Daddy!

MOMMY...Your shrinking!

JORDAN STORY

Sheri came to the house with Jordan (9) on Sunday afternoon.

Jordan had on a new outfit and she was so proud of it.

She look so adorable in the black pants, red shirt and red hat.

The red shirt had an "S" in rinestones.

Jordan told me that anything that had letters on it was " IN"!

I said, Jordan, I was wondering why you chose a shirt with an "S" on it instead of a "J" for Jordan.

She said, well Bama, Iwanted the "S" instead.

Why? I asked.

Jordan replied... Because the "S" stands for SWEET!

MICHAEL & LAUREN TELL ALL

Michael and Lauren were visiting one weekend and John and I decided to take them to the Dairy Queen.

When we walked to the window to order, Michael and Lauren spotted PokeMon dolls. They got very excited and asked if we would buy them.

John and I looked at one another and said, why not!

We bought the ice cream and the PokeMon dolls and started home. There were giggles from the back seat as they played with the PokeMon figures.

Then Michael said, Thank you Bama and Papa John for the PokeMon dolls.    Our Mother and Daddy WON'T allow us to watch them on T V.  They wouldn't  even let us have the dolls. They said they didn't think they were a good influence!!!!!!!!

John and I just looked at one another and burst out laughing.

While waiting, Michael grew restless and kept asking when the lights would come on. Finally, he turned to his parents and said, I'm not waiting any longer. I'm going to count to 3.

He counted, 1, 2, 3 and as if by magic...The lights all came on when he said 3....

He turned to Melissa and Mike with a surprised look on his face and announced....

I JUST TURNED ON ALL THE LIGHTS IN PARIS!!!!!!!!

He took her to the casket and let her touch his Great Aunt's face.

Later, I was talking to Jordan and I asked her about the experience.

ANOTHER JORDAN STORY

Jordan was 4 when this happened.

We were sitting around the table after a family dinner. We were sharing stories and laughing. I said; that just cracks me up!

Jordan flew to my side and with tears in her eyes said; Oh Bama, please don't crack up!

I explained what I meant by saying that and her reply was...

You said you were not cracking up BUT You Are!!!

I asked why she thought that..

She said, cause when you smile, Bama...There are cracks all over your face!!

So much for feeling good about my appearence!

JORDAN'S BUTTERFLIES

Jordan (9) called yesterday with excitement in her voice...

Bama, guess what? My butterfly has come out of it's cocoon! It was amazing. It has white wings and it is drying them off right now. I named it Snowflake because of it's white wings.

Bama... Will you take it outside and set it free?

J...yes, but not today because it needs to dry and get used to being born.

J...I love you, Bama and it's been lovely talking with you!
